HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer

Hello,

Based on penetration testing, it appears that SMBv1 is enabled and SMB signing is not enabled and\or is set to not required on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8620.  I confirmed that this model printer does not support SMBv3.  How do I disable SMBv1?

Thank you,

Roger

Hi @RV2024 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are to address the security concerns related to SMBv1 and SMB signing on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 printer, you need to access the printer's settings through its web interface.

Here's a general guideline on how to disable SMBv1 and enable SMB signing, if available:

  • Access the Printer's Web Interface: First, you need to find the IP address of your printer. This can usually be done by printing a network configuration page from the printer itself. Once you have the IP address, open a web browser and enter the IP address in the address bar.
  • Login to the Printer's Web Interface: You will be prompted to log in to the printer's web interface. Use the appropriate credentials to log in. If you haven't set up credentials, the default username and password might be admin/admin or admin/password. Refer to your printer's documentation for the default login credentials.
  • Navigate to Settings: Once logged in, look for a section related to network or security settings. The exact location of these settings may vary depending on the printer's firmware.
  • Disable SMBv1: Look for an option to disable SMBv1. This option might be located within the network settings or in a separate section dedicated to file sharing or protocol settings. Disable SMBv1 if it's enabled.
  • Enable SMB Signing (if available): SMB signing helps ensure the integrity and authenticity of SMB packets during data transfer. Look for an option to enable SMB signing. This option may be located in the same section where SMBv1 settings are found. If available, enable SMB signing.
  • Save and Apply Changes: After making the necessary changes, save the settings and apply them. The printer may need to restart to apply the changes.
  • Verify Settings: Once the printer has restarted, verify that SMBv1 is disabled and SMB signing is enabled. You can do this by reviewing the settings again through the printer's web interface.

Hello Gaya1239,

Thank you. Unfortunately, there is no menu or option to select SMBv1 in the web interface.

Thanks,

Roger
