How do I attach 4258e, networked, to Alexa?

Hi @Michael_Car,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how  it can be when you’re trying to connect your printer to Alexa and it doesn’t go smoothly.   To give you the most accurate guidance, could you confirm the exact printer model and whether it’s already set up on your Wi-Fi network?

In the meantime, here are some general  steps you can try:

01.Verify Printer Setup

Alexa can only detect printers that are already connected to Wi-Fi and registered with HP Smart.

Make sure your printer is powered on

Confirm it’s connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Alexa device

Open the HP Smart app to check if the printer shows as online

02.Enable HP Skill in Alexa

Alexa needs the HP Printer skill to communicate with your device.

Open Alexa app → More → Skills & Games → Search 'HP Printer'

Enable the HP Printer skill

Sign in with your HP account credentials

03.Link Printer to Alexa

Once the skill is enabled, you need to connect your printer.

In the Alexa app, go to Devices → Add Device → Printer

Select your HP printer from the list

Complete the linking process

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
