The screen shows only white, so i cannot control the printer. From the research done, I can see that the only way to fix this is by a factory reset. How do I do this please?

  • Press the power button to turn the printer back on.

Access the Factory Reset Menu (if the screen becomes responsive):

  • If the screen becomes responsive, you may need to navigate through the menu to perform the factory reset.

Thanks for your input.

The screen is not responsive, so i cannot access the menu.

Is there another way of dealing with this via the connected computer / IP address etc?

Hi @espressoarch,

Thank you for your response,

To perform a factory reset on your HP Officejet Pro 7720 printer when the screen is unresponsive, you can try accessing the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) via its IP address. Here's how.

Find the Printer's IP Address

You need to know the printer's IP address, which should be available from the printer's network settings (even though the screen is unresponsive, you might be able to print a network configuration report using the buttons on the printer).

  1. Option 1 (using buttons): Press the Wireless and Information buttons simultaneously to print the network configuration report.
  2. Option 2: If your printer is connected to your router, you can check the list of connected devices via your router's settings.

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  1. Open a web browser on your computer.
  2. Enter the printer’s IP address in the browser's address bar and press Enter. You should see the printer's Embedded Web Server interface.

Reset the Printer from the EWS

  1. In the EWS, look for the Settings tab.
  2. Navigate to Restore Defaults (this may vary slightly, but you should find it under Tools or Preferences).
  3. Select the Restore Factory Defaults option and confirm.

Restart the Printer

After performing the reset, power off your printer, wait for 30 seconds, and turn it back on.

If the EWS is not accessible, you can also try resetting the printer via the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool or reinstalling it via HP Smart software on your computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for the advice.

Unfortunately none of those options, including the factory reset via EWS, seem to work. I still have a blank white screen on the display.

Hi @espressoarch,

Thank you for your response,

If you're dealing with a blank white screen on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7720, and factory reset options haven't resolved the issue, here’s what you can try.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check the Power Supply:

  • Ensure the power cord is securely connected to both the printer and the power outlet.
  • Try using a different power outlet if possible.

Inspect for Physical Damage:

  • Look for any visible damage to the printer's display or connections.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • With the printer turned on, press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds. This might force a reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
