Well, it can be fairly straight forward - or it can seem overly complicated to "get there from here".
The least complicated method to scan and then send in an email:
First
Add your "sender email address" to the Windows Mail application on your computer.
Use HP Smart app to scan the content in PDF or Image format > Share the content as an email
Reminder:
IF your email uses a two-step verification to sign into it,
Assign an Apps Password in your Email account Security.
===================================================================
If you have not done so,
Install the HP Smart application onto your Computer.
HP Smart is an application available in the Microsoft Store
Important: Details about the app are included near the end of this message
Open HP Smart
Sign into the application using your HP Account credentials
Add your printer
Once the printer is added and you are signed into the app,
Click to Scan an Image or Scan a Document
Complete the Presets and options for your document or image and click to Scan
After the content is scanned,
If the scan needs a bit of work, Click to Edit the scan > complete the Edits > Click Done
When the scan is fine the way it is, Click to Share the content
Select to send from your "sender" address > add any messages > add Copy to (if you want to send yourself a copy)
And ... Send
