Welcome to the HP User Community.

Some information would be helpful to craft an answer that fits what you are doing...

For example:

  • What is the Operating System / computer / device you are using?
  • If you are using Windows:  Important >> Have you installed the full driver printer software?
  • What is the application / software you are using to print / scan?
  • What kind of data?  Document (what kind?) or Photo?
  • What kind of job?  Print or Scan?

General information on the subject of "margins" and this printer

This printer requires a larger margin along the bottom edge:

Print Margin Bottom (A4)12.7 mm
Print Margin Left (A4)3 mm
Print Margin Right (A4)3 mm
Print Margin Top (A4)3 mm

The printer does not support borderless printing

Borderless PrintingNo

Margins within a document must be set in the software used to create the document (for example, Word).

Note >> In the case of this printer, it is recommended that you set your document margins no smaller than "Normal", that is, 1/2 inch.  Locate all the data in the document inside that margin, including all headers, footers, and other fields.

Margins used in printing can only be adjusted to the extent supported by the application / software used to view and submit the job to the printer.

The application / software cannot override the printer requirements.

For example, Using software to print the content cannot change the need for the larger margin on the one side.

Data ( documents / photos ) can generally be printed to fit within the confines required.

This "make it fit" setting might be called (for example) "Shrink to Fit" or similar.

If "Crop" (full size) is used, the content might be printed with even borders around the edges but a the cost of some content having been removed to force the document / image into the shape of the paper you are using.
