You need to place the alignment page on the scanner glass to complete process.
Please follow steps from the next video:

I like your idea, but I haven’t tried it yet. I do not have Internet at home. When I start the scanner program, it days I am not connected to the Internet. My printer will print with a USB cable to the computer. Can I make the scanner work with the cable too? Thank you

Yes, you can connect a USB cable to print and scan.
(1) Connect a USB cable between printer and computer:
(2) Then follow steps from the next video to install with USB
