I have a HP 6968 printer that is a refurbished printer sent to me by HP due to my original one being defective. One day last week it became unable to communicate with my new HP desktop computer. A desktop technician then removed it from my desktop and I cannot get new software to it due to the fact that the setting were locked when it was sent to me. Printer can still print from my laptop or phone. So how do i get drivers on my computer to communicate with it?

@14bama, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand you are not able to make changes to the settings on the printer. We need to perform a factory reset on the printer to resolve this issue.
- The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
- I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
- In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage
Once the reset is done, connect the printer to the wireless network:
On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings
Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.
Use the HP Smart app to print.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
