Help!!!
I have 2 HP accounts and cannot use my printer because it keeps telling me " this printer is already connected to another account. How do I delete the printer from my original account so I can re-connect it to my new account?
2 Techs and over an hour on the phone and they couldn't figure it out. 😳
Anyone know how to do this?

Hi @SammyOliver,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I can help with that! Here’s how to remove your HP printer from your account so you can reconnect it to a different account.
Using HP Smart App
Open the HP Smart App on your device (phone, tablet, or computer).
Sign in to the HP Smart App with the account where the printer is currently registered.
Select the printer you want to remove from the list of printers.
Go to Printer Settings:
- On mobile devices, tap the three lines (menu) icon, then select Printer Settings.
- On a computer, click on the Printer Settings gear icon.
Look for an option to remove or disconnect the printer from the account. This might be under Manage Printer or Printer Preferences.
Follow the prompts to confirm that you want to remove the printer from this account.
Using the HP Website
- Visit the HP Smart Portal (HP Connected) at hpconnected.com.
- Sign in to the HP account that currently has the printer registered.
- Go to the "My Printers" section.
- Find the printer you want to remove and select it.
- Look for an option to remove or delete the printer. This may be under Manage Printers or Settings.
- Confirm the removal when prompted.
Resetting the Printer
If you cannot remove the printer through the HP Smart App or HP website, you might need to reset the printer to its default settings.
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup or Settings.
- Find and select "Printer Maintenance" or "Factory Reset".
- Follow the prompts to reset the printer to its factory settings.
- After the reset, set up the printer again using the new HP account.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
