Is there any way to set up a HP 5000 printer for default printing on one side of the paper? I know the checkbox is available when printing each document, but I am looking for the setting that can be set up once until overridden.

Hi @AS55,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Yes, there should be a way to set the default printing preferences for your HP 5000 printer to print on one side of the paper. Here's how you can do it.
- Access Printer Preferences: Open the Control Panel on your computer and navigate to Devices and Printers. Find your HP 5000 printer, right-click on it, and select "Printing Preferences."
- Locate Printing Preferences: In the Printing Preferences dialog box, look for an option related to duplex printing or double-sided printing. This setting may vary depending on the printer driver version and the operating system you're using. It could be under a tab named "Finishing" or "Advanced."
- Set One-Sided Printing as Default: Once you've located the duplex printing setting, choose "Off" or "Single-sided" to set it as the default option.
- Save Changes: After making your selection, click on the "Apply" or "OK" button to save the changes.
By setting one-sided printing as the default option, your HP 5000 printer should now print on one side of the paper by default until you manually change the setting for a specific print job.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4,
I am on a Mac, so no Control Panel. However, going to System Settings>Printers & Scanners>Choosing my printer>Options & Supplies>Show Printer Webpage opens the printer webpage with the following options: Home, Scan, Web Services, Network, Tools, & Settings. None of these options include the option to print one-sided or two-sided. Any other ideas?
