Hi @Iamgumby,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Enabling Color Printing on the HP DeskJet 2800e!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure that the color ink cartridge is installed correctly and has sufficient ink.
  • You can check the ink levels from the printer's control panel or via the HP Smart app.

Printer Settings:

  • On your computer, adjust the printer settings to enable color printing:

For Windows:

  • Open the document you wish to print and select 'Print'.
  • Choose your HP DeskJet 2800e printer, and click on 'Properties' or 'Preferences'.
  • Locate the color settings, typically found under 'Quality' or 'Advanced Options', and ensure 'Color' is selected instead of 'Black & White' or 'Grayscale'.

For macOS:

  • Open the document and select 'File' > 'Print'.
  • Select your HP DeskJet 2800e printer.
  • Click on 'Show Details', if necessary, to expand the print settings.
  • Under 'Color/Quality', ensure 'Color' is selected instead of 'Black & White'.

HP Smart App:

  • Use the HP Smart app to manage print settings and ensure color printing is enabled.
  • Open the HP Smart app, select your printer, browse to print settings, and confirm that color printing is enabled.

Driver Update:

I hope this helps.
