Hi @toad63,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Smart app is showing your printer as offline instead of online, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check Printer Connection:
- Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your mobile device or computer running the HP Smart app.
- Check the Wi-Fi signal strength at the printer location to ensure a stable connection.
Restart Printer and Router:
- Turn off your printer and then unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Restart your wireless router by unplugging it from power for about 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.
- Wait for the router to fully reboot and stabilize, then plug the printer’s power cord back in and turn the printer on.
2. Restart HP Smart App:
- Close the HP Smart app completely on your mobile device or computer.
- Reopen the app and check if the printer status updates to online.
3. Check Printer Status on Control Panel:
- On your printer's control panel, check the Wi-Fi or network settings to ensure it is connected to the correct network.
- Print a network configuration or status report from the printer to confirm its connection status.
4. Update HP Smart App:
- Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your mobile device or computer.
- Visit the app store (Google Play Store for Android or Apple App Store for iOS) to check for updates and install any available updates.
5. Reinstall HP Smart App:
- If the issue persists, uninstall the HP Smart app from your mobile device or computer.
- Restart your device.
- Reinstall the HP Smart app from the app store and set up your printer again.
6. Reset Printer and Network Settings:
- Consult your printer’s manual or HP Support website for instructions on how to perform a network or factory reset.
- Resetting the printer’s network settings can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
7. Check Firewall and Security Settings:
- Ensure that your firewall or security software is not blocking communication between the HP Smart app and your printer.
- Temporarily disable the firewall or adjust its settings to allow the HP Smart app to communicate with the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
