I have an HP Deskjet 2755e and I am trying to set it up at college. However, my printer will not connect to the internet and gives the error saying I need to reconfigure my printer to allow Enterprise Level Authentication or that the network is not supported. How do I fix this? Any other ideas for how to connect my printer?

Hi @Carter3195,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP Deskjet 2755e is a consumer-grade printer, and it may not have built-in support for enterprise-level authentication methods like those used in corporate environments. Typically, enterprise-level authentication is used with more advanced printers and multifunction devices designed for business and office use.

If you are attempting to connect your HP Deskjet 2755e to an enterprise-level network that requires authentication, you may need to work with your IT department to find a suitable solution. Here are some general steps you can take:

  • Contact IT Support: Reach out to your organization's IT support team or network administrator to discuss the specific authentication requirements and see if they can help you set up the printer.
  • Check Printer Compatibility: Ensure that your HP Deskjet 2755e is compatible with the network and authentication methods used in your enterprise. Consumer-grade printers may not support advanced enterprise-level security features.
  • Network Configuration: If your IT department determines that the printer is compatible, they may need to configure the network settings on the printer to match the enterprise network's requirements. This may include setting up a static IP address or configuring network security settings.
  • Authentication Method: Enterprise-level authentication often involves methods like LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) or RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service). The IT team will need to configure the printer to use the appropriate authentication method if supported.
  • Firmware Updates: Ensure that the printer's firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes, manufacturers release firmware updates that add or improve network and security features. You can check HP's official website for any available updates.
  • Printer Sharing: Depending on your organization's network setup, you may need to configure the printer for sharing or set up print queues on a print server.
  • Security Settings: Ensure that the printer's security settings are configured correctly. Disable any unnecessary services or features that could pose a security risk in an enterprise environment.
  • Documentation: Keep track of any configuration changes made to the printer, and document the settings for future reference or troubleshooting.

Remember that the ability to configure consumer-grade printers for enterprise-level authentication may be limited, and you may encounter limitations in terms of security and functionality. If your organization requires a higher level of security and functionality, they may consider investing in enterprise-grade printers that are specifically designed for business use and offer advanced security features and compatibility with enterprise-level networks.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
