HP DeskJet 3636 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been using this printer for a few years and due to a recent change in WiFi router needed to reconnect to a new WiFi network. I wanted to do this in the Embedded Web Server but do not have the username or password of the EWS admin of the printer. Please can I get help to reset this user name and password of the EWS for this printer?

@nutjot, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To reset the Embedded Web Server (EWS) admin password for your HP DeskJet 3636 All-in-One Printer, follow these steps:

Factory Reset via Printer Buttons

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Cancel button.
  3. While holding Cancel, press and hold the Power button.
  4. Keep holding both buttons for 10–15 seconds until the printer powers on and begins resetting.
  5. Release the buttons once the reset process starts.

This should restore the printer to factory defaults, including the EWS admin password and Wi-Fi settings.

Alternative: Use HP Smart App

If you have the HP Smart App installed:

  1. Open the app on your PC or phone.
  2. Go to Advanced Settings to launch the EWS.
  3. Navigate to Settings > Restore Defaults.
  4. If prompted for a password,
    Username: admin
Password: admin or the PIN found on a sticker inside the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
