I reset the admin password (pin) from the original 8-digit pin found inside the door.  I immediately tried to access and it tells me the password is incorrect.  How do I reset it?

@joefriedeggs, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the printer is locked out. Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button from the printer control panel together for three seconds.

This will restore the network defaults on the printer.

If this does not help, I have sent you a private message with a set of instructions to perform a reset. Kindly check the same, this might help you to resolve this issue. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

This did cause my printer to reset; had to go back through the set-up procedure to connect wifi, etc.
BUT still when I go to "Advanced Settings" and click "Sign In" it says "A custom printer password has been set".  It will not take the password I set, and it will not take the default PIN from the printer door.
