Hi @JIMB65,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Install or Reinstall HP Driver and Software:

  • Ensure that the HP printer software and drivers are installed on your Mac. You can download them from the HP Support website.
  • Follow the installation instructions to ensure all necessary components are installed.

Open HP Utility on Mac:

  • Go to Applications > HP and open HP Utility.
  • If HP Utility is not installed, it will be included with the Full Feature Software and Driver package from HP’s website.

Enable Scan to Computer:

  • In HP Utility, look for the option labeled Scan Settings or Scan to Computer.
  • Select Enable Scan to Computer. This will allow the printer to communicate with the computer and perform scan operations.

Check Printer and Network Connectivity:

  • Ensure the printer is properly connected to the same network as your Mac or directly via USB.
  • Avoid having the printer too far from the router to maintain stable connectivity.

Restart Printer and Computer:

  • Turn off your printer and restart your Mac to allow the changes to take effect.
  • Turn the printer back on and confirm the connection.

Firewall and Security Settings:

  • Check your Mac’s firewall and security settings to ensure they aren’t blocking communication between the printer and the computer.
  • You may need to allow HP software to communicate through the firewall.

Use HP Smart App:

  • If you still face issues, download and install the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store which can assist with scan functions and printer setup.

I hope this helps.
