How to share HP Smart scanned documents using my email client instead of Microsoft "Mail"

Hi,

I can press Scan and scan in a document in HP Smart, but when I go to share it the only option is "Mail", which is not the default email client for the machine, and is not the one I want to use. HP Smart is unsophisticated and has very few settings so I can't figure out how to change the email app to Thunderbird. Can I edit the registry? I saw references on the web to using a different "Advanced" software, but the links I found are dead.

To assist you better, what model printer are you using?

Refer to this document to know how to find the Product Name or Product Number.

Use the HP Scan Extended app to scan and check if that helps.

Click here to download the app. 

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Making changes to the registry is not recommended.
