ENVY 6200
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am an old man with what is likely a simple problem.

My ENVY 6200 (multifunction) printer goes to sleep after 2 hours. OK, by me. But, is there a way to force it to power down without crawling behind it to fiddle for the power button? The thing is, I'm no longer very nimber: stuck in a wheelchair since the 1st Gulf War, live alone 95% of the time, and have only one working upper limb. You get the picture.

So, is there a software trick or a power button that I cannot see, there is no screen, just a pretty blue icon indicating that the printer is connected to the LAN. Five other buttons are not illuminated...but I can sense they are there and one is clearly marked with a grey "i"...information.

Thanks for your time and help...if you can.

What else?

That cannot be right - something odd is afoot...

There are printers that have the power button on the back side.

For example...

There are a slew of Envy 6000 printers - these are a sleek and modern design.

Pretty lights and such to make up for the lack of a printer display panel.

Power button on the backside, too.

Ta-Da!

The printer is just as you have found - nice printer with silly power button on the back of the printer.

What to do?

My opinion:

Return the printer for one that better suits your needs and environment.

For example, with a power button on the front and perhaps a printer display screen (not necessary, just convenient).

Remember, you get what you pay for - do not just accept my advice on which printer is right for you.

OR

Although it is not "officially" supported, you can likely connect the printer to a decent quality power strip so that the control for "on / off" can sit nearer to where you can reach.  Don't go "too cheap" - you want the strip to be able to provide enough power without cooking or over heating.

Be careful of surge protectors - these sound ideal but might back fire if the printer needs an extra bit of power (for example, when booting) and the surge protector believes there is a problem.
