Microsoft Windows XP

Hi, we just bought an HP LaserJet M110we and no Windows 10+ compatibility was mentioned on the shopping page.

It's working fine with my Windows 10 computer and our smartphones, but we need it on a Windows XP desktop as well. "Upgrading" to Windows 10 is not an option as it's over 15 years old and I don't want to upgrade the PC, but the software is incompatible with Windows XP.

I read about connecting directly to a printer with its IP but the Windows XP printer config won't use the IP I found in the HP Smart app in the setup. The USB connection also fails to use Plug and Play on Windows XP.

Anyone had any luck with this or found a workaround? Thanks for any info you can provide.

You will hardly get that printer ( and all new models ) to work with XP, it's obsolete OS and no longer supported.

Hi Valsimot, thanks for the reply. When you say 'hardly get it to work', do you mean I can partially get it to work?

I wouldn't say XP is obsolete 😛 It's still the best operating system by far. It's only industry that says it's obsolete because they want us to spend money on new things.

Obsolete in terms of no support provided. The majority of users have moved to newer, more secure systems able to leverage larger memory, larger hard drives, etc.  That of course will not mean that some legacy systems will not still exist but in most cases sourcing out a used, older printer for those applications is really the only solution.
