Hp 9730e Automatic A3 Duplex printing setup problem.

I'm trying to print an A4 booklet on A3 paper using 2 sided Duplex printing setting. The print dialog page accepts this setting, the 2 sided ( manual) setting being 'greyed' out. Setting is booklet and pages 4.

When attempting to  print it prints all the pages  of the document 4 to the A3 page but in A5 size, and not in a booklet format.

It also defaults to manual duplexing 

I've tried updating to full software and drivers but it makes no difference 

Also cannot locate the HP Scanner OCR plug-in.

Help have tried everything over last few weeks, going round in circles.

There are a couple of "main" printing software packages available:

The full driver printing software should be installed

and

HP Smart Universal Printing might be installed.

True -- One, both, or neither of these packages might include OCR.

You may, of course, provide your own OCR (purchase, find, obtain).

-- Important -- HP+ and Printer Features --

This printer model is eligible for the HP+ service / contract.  

OCR (Editable / Searchable PDF) is added and available in the HP App if / when HP+ is enabled.

• Do not enable HP+ unless and until you understand what it does.
• HP+ is NOT Instant Ink -- an ink subscription is offered but not required as part of HP+
• The HP+ upgrade is free but it does make permanent changes to the way you use and manage your printer.
• Ask if you would like additional information.

Next,

Having installed the full driver and / or the HP Smart Universal Printing queue / driver, the next place to check  is Printer Properties.

Ensure that the HP (full driver) driver is selected as Driver and not the IPP / Microsoft drivers.

IPP / Microsoft drivers do not express (support) the full range of printer features, including A3 and duplex printing.

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

Right-Click on Printer > Printer Properties > Tab Advanced

Windows 11

Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Select Printer

Printer Properties > Tab Advanced

• Driver:  Select the HP driver as opposed to the Microsoft / IPP class driver
• Reprint later:  Select Keep all documents
• All Jobs Default:  Printing Defaults
