HP DeskJet 3632 All-in-One Printer

My HP DeskJet 3632 very suddenly started having what I can only describe as an identity crisis. Everything was working fine a few months ago, no problems at all. But last night, I tried for and hour to plug this thing back in and it kept identifying itself as an HP DeskJet 3630. It's not a 3630, it's a 3632. I can't find the right software/driver or whatever in my computer even though it was there before, and when I plug in the printer it automatically downloads the data for a 3630, which is not compatible with this 3632 printer. I am at my wits end with this, I can't figure out where my original 3632 driver data went nor can I figure out how to get the proper stuff I need to make my printer print.

I've had a similar issue before where I needed it to function as a scanner, and I had to download the software? The driver? I'm not sure, the stuff to make it work as a 3630 so I could use my 3632 as a scanner. But when that happened, i had to delete the 3630 stuff to make it start working as a printer again because when you use the 3630 stuff to try and make the 3632 print, it spits out blank papers. It won't print. So I already know I can't use the 3630 driver/software or whatever with this printer, and I know that's the core issue. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out why this printer thinks it's a 3630, and I can't figure out why the original driver/software for a 3632 is gone from my computer all of a sudden, not do I know where I can find that and download it.

Hi @eggyBaconbits,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your printer is experiencing some confusion, likely due to an issue with its drivers or settings. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Uninstall the Current Drivers: Start by uninstalling any existing printer drivers for the HP DeskJet 3630 series from your computer. To do this, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features (or Add/Remove Programs), find any HP DeskJet 3630 series entries, and uninstall them.
  • Download the Correct Drivers: Visit the official HP website and download the correct drivers for the HP DeskJet 3632. Make sure you select the appropriate operating system version (e.g., Windows 10, macOS) before downloading. Here's the link to the HP DeskJet 3632 drivers page: HP DeskJet 3632 Drivers.
  • Install the New Drivers: After downloading the drivers, install them on your computer following the on-screen instructions. Make sure to choose the correct printer model during the installation process.
  • Reset the Printer: Sometimes resetting the printer to its factory settings can resolve identification issues. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP DeskJet 3632 printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues and improve performance.
  • Check Printer Settings: Once the drivers are installed, make sure the printer is correctly set up and configured. Check the printer settings on both your computer and the printer itself to ensure they match.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the identity crisis your printer is experiencing and get it working properly again as an HP DeskJet 3632.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
