Hi,
when I access the printer's web server settings it asks me to authenticate. The user is: admin
but I dont know the PIN/PASSWORD.

I tried with the following psw; router, printer and wi-fi but without success. How can I reset the printer to fix the problem?
Thanks for the support.

Hi @TakeOver ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Envy 7640's Embedded Web Server (EWS) is asking for an admin username and password, but you don’t know the password, you may need to reset the printer to restore access. Here are some steps you can try:

Check Default Passwords: Sometimes, "admin" or a blank password (no password entered) may work, but if you've already tried that, proceed to the next steps.

Restore Network Defaults:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Network Setup > Restore Network Defaults.
  • This will reset network settings to default, which may remove any previously set password for EWS.

Full Printer Reset:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about a minute.
  • Plug it back in, power it on, and check if it resets the admin settings.
  • Note: Some HP printers may have a "factory reset" option in the control panel under Settings > Printer Maintenance, but this option varies by model.

After resetting, you should be able to access the EWS without a password, or you may be prompted to set a new one. Let me know if you need further assistance with this process.

Refer to this document: HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer series User manual

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
