Hi all,

I purchased an HP Laserjet Pro MFW m479 two years ago and it has been serving me perfectly until a few months ago. After HP issued some new driver and a proprietary app every print option is stuck on the US letter format, which is totally useless outside the Americas. Every single print has to be overridden and that is annoying. The product I purchased has been modified for the worse without my consent.

Kindly fix this and PLEASE: Do not reply to this with some white noise politeness about connecting the power cord, providing serial numbers or updating drivers. Your guys know what happened. The driver that messed it all up was installed automatically, as should the fix.

Hello Dagbre,

According to your description, it seems the settings you mention are found on the computer, not the printer itself. If that is the case, you can change printer preferences and set some user-defined values, let's say A4 or any other size you use.

You can even save that as a shortcut, so the next time when you print, the system will take your shortcut as default.

If you suspect the problem is the driver you can reinstall it or even try with a different one like Universal Print Driver.

If you need further help and if your printer is under warranty, you can call HP tech support for further inspection.
