hp envy 4527

hi

I need help please

I recently upgraded my router. I now have a technicolor dga2231 router. however, since Ive had this router my wireless printer, hp envy 4527, doesn't stay connected to the router. I then have to run the wifi setup wizard on the printer and input the wifi password. I know the printer has a built in sleep mode, but it states that it is deactivated when the printer is connected to a network.

it didn't keep disconnecting with the old router. so why does it now? defeats the object of a wireless printer if you have to keep walking to the other room to input passwords.

what do I do???

Hi @rowdycrowdy

Connect your computer to the 2.4GHz channel as your HP Printer is not compatible with 5.0 GHz networks.

Yes, you need to give 2.4GHz bandwidth a different SSID name, for that you'll have to login to the router's page.

Hi @rowdycrowdy

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the connectivity issue.

To better assist you -

1) Are you using a dual band router? If it is a dual band, make sure the dual band has different SSIDs for 2.4G and 5G networks.

2) How far is the router from the printer?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps -

Step#1 Disable Auto Off feature.

Step#2 Sleep mode setting to be set to Max, or Off.

Step#3 Schedule On/Off feature to be checked.

Step#4 Try updating the printer's firmware. Refer to this document for steps - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Step#5 Try assigning a manual IP. Refer to this video link for step by step instructions.

Step#6 Disable IPV6 -

(1) To open the printer's EWS page, open the Internet browser and type the IP address for your printer into the URL field of your Internet browser.

Note: To get the IP Address, print a Network Configuration Page. Press the Wireless button and Information button at the same time to print the network configuration page.

(2) On the printer's EWS page, click the Network or Networking tab, and then open Network protocol under general

(3) Select Enable IPv4 only (or similar)

(4) Click Apply, and then wait until the changes are confirmed. Restart the Printer, router and your phone and try printing again.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi anita

Sorry for the delay.

1. Yes dual band. When u say diff ssids for 2.4g and 5f networks, do u mean diff names?

2. Router is in different rooms. I'd say at least 10m away from the printer

Also apologise as my phone auto corrected your name sorry asmita

Hi asmita

Auto off is present and cannot be configured. Apparently it should disable when connected to pc or mobile device or network. It shows an auto off time limit of 2 hours that cant be changed either.

It doesn't have a sleep mode. Just an energy save mode. This has options of 5 10 or 15 min

@rowdycrowdy

Thanks for checking those settings 🙂

If the device you are trying to print from and the printer is already on the 2.4 GHz, try restoring the network settings -

Step 1 Network Restore -
On the printer's control panel -
1) Touch the "Wireless icon".
2) Touch the "Settings" icon.
3) Select "Restore Network Settings".
4) Select "Yes".

Step 2 Reboot the devices -
1) Turn off the Router, Printer, and the computer.
2) Wait for 60 seconds.
3) Turn on the Router first and wait for all the lights to stabilize.
4) Turn on the printer and allow it to configure itself.
5) Turn on the computer.

Step 3 Run Wireless Wizard -
On the printer's control panel, go to the Network menu or touch the wireless icon and then go to settings. Select Wireless Setup Wizard.

Let me know how that goes.

Ok. So I have followed the instructions to reboot. I have now typed the password and it has connected as usual. I will wait a few hours to see if it remains connected. I'll update you as and when I know more

Thanks
