Hi @Brianbokeelia

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for flagging this—I understand your HP Color LaserJet M255dw is not waking up from sleep mode on Windows 11 and Android.

This is often tied to power management settings, firmware bugs, or network sleep behavior.

Here’s a tailored fix strategy for both platforms:

On Windows 11

1. Update Printer Firmware

2. Adjust Power Management Settings

  • Open Device Manager → expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  • Right-click each USB Root Hub → PropertiesPower Management tab.
  • Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”

3. Enable Wake Timers

  • Go to Control PanelPower OptionsChange plan settingsAdvanced settings.
  • Under Sleep, set Allow wake timers to Enable.
  • Also disable USB selective suspend under USB settings.

4. Disable Fast Startup

  • Go to Control PanelPower OptionsChoose what the power buttons do.
  • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  • Uncheck Turn on fast startup.

On Android

1. Use HP Smart App

  • Ensure you're using the latest version of HP Smart.
  • Go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Power Management (if available).
  • Disable Auto Sleep or set a longer sleep timer.

2. Wake via Network

  • Make sure the printer is connected via Wi-Fi Direct or on the same network.
  • Try sending a print job or pinging the printer IP from a browser (http://<printer-ip>).
  • If it doesn’t respond, the printer may be in deep sleep and require manual wake-up.

Additional Tips

  • Some users resolved it by disabling IPv6 on the printer and router.
  • If the issue persists, consider setting the printer to never sleep via its Embedded Web Server (EWS):
    • Access the printer’s IP in a browser.
    • Go to Settings > Power Management.
    • Set Sleep Mode to Off or increase the timer.

Let me know if you want help accessing the EWS or checking your printer’s IP. We can also try a network ping test to confirm if it’s reachable while asleep.
