HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e Wide Format All-in-One Printer
  • I bought a brand new set of original hp cartrages for the printer. However after installing them I get a message saying the black ink is used. And therefore the printer needs new ink to start up the printhead.  All the other colors work. Is there a way to bypass this in the printer settings so I can still print?

Thanks much

I understand you're experiencing an issue with the ink cartridges for your printer.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.

Please follow the steps below to fix the issue.

A) Perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

Hey none of the suggested solutions worked.

Now all the inks are not working. When I check the supplies it shows all the inks are unavailable. Initially it only showed the black ink as unavailable before I reset the printer.

Imagine buying a product and gets no use from It. Problems from the moment I unlocked and turn it on.  I spend $200 on new ink and still nothing.

Would downgrading the firmware help?

Thank you
