UPDATE:: I figured it out! No longer need help!
I just bought a used printer and I was scrolling through the menu. I accidentally changed the language from English to a foreign language. I have no idea what the laguage is. I think I pushed the left arrow and that changed it to whatever language is before English. Can someone help me get it back to English?
The menu display is showing the other language and I cannot figure read it. I cannot find the Language setting on the menu.
Thanks!

Hi @Cowgirl20,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here’s how to change the language back to English on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M148dw.
Reset the Printer Menu:
- Turn off the printer and turn it back on. This ensures you start fresh with the menu navigation.
Access the Settings Menu:
- Press the Menu or Setup button (depending on the model, this might look like a wrench or gear icon).
Navigate to Language Settings:
- Use the arrow buttons (left, right, up, or down) to navigate. Look for something resembling the following keywords:
- Sprache (German for Language)
- Idioma (Spanish for Language)
- Langue (French for Language)
- Язык (Russian for Language)
- Other languages will have similar terms; you're aiming for the one associated with "Language."
Select Language Settings:
- Press OK when you reach this menu.
- The available languages will display in a list.
Choose English:
- Use the arrow keys to find English. It should appear as "English."
- Press OK to confirm your selection.
Restart if Necessary:
- After selecting English, restart the printer to ensure the changes are applied.
Note:
- If you’re completely stuck and cannot identify the menu options, perform a factory reset to restore default settings:
- Turn off the printer.
- Press and hold both the Resume/Cancel button and the Power button together.
- Wait for the printer to restart. The language should revert to the default (often English).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
