Hi @MaritaRusche,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a setup loop issue with your HP Smart Tank 7300 series printer. Here are steps you can follow to resolve this issue and successfully complete the setup:

1. Restart the Setup Process:

Restart Printer and Devices:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart your computer or mobile device.

Close and Reopen HP Smart App:

  • Close the HP Smart app on your device and then reopen it.

2. Ensure Proper Network Connection:

Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Make sure your printer and device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Ensure the Wi-Fi network is stable.

Check Printer’s Wi-Fi Status:

  • On the printer's control panel, check if the Wi-Fi indicator is solid and not blinking.
  • If the Wi-Fi is not connected, go through the Wi-Fi setup process again.

3. Use HP Smart App for Setup:

Download HP Smart App:

Follow On-Screen Instructions:

  • Open the HP Smart app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer.
  • Make sure to allow the app to access your location and network when prompted.

4. Reset Network Settings on Printer:

  1. Reset Network Settings:
    • On the printer's control panel, go to the network settings.
    • Select the option to reset network settings to default.
    • After resetting, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

5. Manually Add Printer to Wi-Fi Network:

Wi-Fi Direct Connection:

  • If the setup loop continues, try connecting the printer to your device using Wi-Fi Direct.
  • Enable Wi-Fi Direct on the printer and connect your device to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct network.

Manual IP Configuration:

  • Access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) by typing the printer's IP address into a web browser.
  • Go to the network settings and manually configure the Wi-Fi settings.

6. Check for Firmware Updates:

  1. Update Printer Firmware:
    • Go to the HP support website and check for any available firmware updates for your printer model.
    • Download and install any available updates.

7. Troubleshoot Using HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  1. Download and Run Tool:
    • Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP support website.
    • Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix any issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
