Hi @MaritaRusche,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing a setup loop issue with your HP Smart Tank 7300 series printer. Here are steps you can follow to resolve this issue and successfully complete the setup:
1. Restart the Setup Process:
Restart Printer and Devices:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Restart your computer or mobile device.
Close and Reopen HP Smart App:
- Close the HP Smart app on your device and then reopen it.
2. Ensure Proper Network Connection:
Wi-Fi Connection:
- Make sure your printer and device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Ensure the Wi-Fi network is stable.
Check Printer’s Wi-Fi Status:
- On the printer's control panel, check if the Wi-Fi indicator is solid and not blinking.
- If the Wi-Fi is not connected, go through the Wi-Fi setup process again.
3. Use HP Smart App for Setup:
Download HP Smart App:
- Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your device.
- HP Smart App for Windows
- HP Smart App for Mac
- HP Smart App for iOS
- HP Smart App for Android
Follow On-Screen Instructions:
- Open the HP Smart app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer.
- Make sure to allow the app to access your location and network when prompted.
4. Reset Network Settings on Printer:
- Reset Network Settings:
- On the printer's control panel, go to the network settings.
- Select the option to reset network settings to default.
- After resetting, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
5. Manually Add Printer to Wi-Fi Network:
Wi-Fi Direct Connection:
- If the setup loop continues, try connecting the printer to your device using Wi-Fi Direct.
- Enable Wi-Fi Direct on the printer and connect your device to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct network.
Manual IP Configuration:
- Access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) by typing the printer's IP address into a web browser.
- Go to the network settings and manually configure the Wi-Fi settings.
6. Check for Firmware Updates:
- Update Printer Firmware:
- Go to the HP support website and check for any available firmware updates for your printer model.
- Download and install any available updates.
7. Troubleshoot Using HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and Run Tool:
- Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP support website.
- Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix any issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
