The printer has not been used and there is no paper in the paper tray

If your HP Envy 6555e printer display shows a document feeder jam message even though there is no paper loaded, you can follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Check the Document Feeder:

  • Open the document feeder cover.
  • Look carefully for any small pieces of paper or foreign objects that might be stuck in the feeder. Even dust or tiny debris can be responsible for the error.
  • If you find any obstructions, carefully remove them.

Reboot the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. Check if the error message persists.

Reinsert the Paper Tray:

  • Ensure the paper tray is properly inserted. Sometimes, misaligned trays can trigger error messages.

Perform a Reset:

  • If the error persists, perform a reset of the printer by turning it off, unplugging the power cord, waiting a few seconds, and then plugging it back in and turning it on.
