I am unable to install my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer on my new Windows 11 computer. When I use the software downloaded from the HP website I get an installation failed message (Error 1722). Any ideas?

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that you are unable to install the printer driver, I am glad to assist you.
Where did you download the printer driver from?
Meanwhile:-
Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- Restart the PC again.
Download and install the printer using HP full-feature driver

Update the printer firmware to install the latest updates

I have downloaded the same driver/installation files that you have advised to install to no avail. Nonetheless I went thru the steps you outlined, as much as I could as I was unable to get to the drivers tab mentioned as when I type printui.exe /s I get a error message stating Server properties cannot be viewed. The local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine. Within the services the print spooler is listed on automatic status. I have tried to restart the spooler service with no luck. I again tried to use the link you provided for the drivers and again ended with an error in step 1 of 4 of the installation process showing error 1722.
I can get the scan function to work using the HP Smart app, but nothing else. I have also tried the HP print and Scan Doctor app.

This might require remote access to the computer to fix the issue.
