I just opened a new printer and it is not working, it is not connecting to my laptop (ACER) or my Iphone app. I even called and they tried to just sell me software which was either a scam or just bad business. Any advice on why my BRAND NEW printer is not working

Hi @jjf615,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your new HP DeskJet 2855e. Let's troubleshoot the connection issues.
Check the Basics
- Power: Ensure the printer is plugged in and powered on.
- Wi-Fi: Make sure your printer and your laptop/iPhone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Restart Devices
- Printer: Turn off the printer, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.
- Laptop/iPhone: Restart your devices.
Reinstall HP Smart App
- On your iPhone, uninstall the HP Smart app and then reinstall it from the App Store. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
Connect via Wi-Fi
- For iPhone: Open the HP Smart app, tap on “Set Up a New Printer” and follow the on-screen instructions.
- For Laptop: Go to the printer’s control panel, navigate to the network settings, and connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
Update Firmware and Drivers
- Firmware: Make sure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. You can usually check this via the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app.
- Drivers: Ensure you have the latest drivers installed on your laptop. You can download these from HP’s official website.
Check for Errors
- Look for any error messages or lights on the printer that might indicate what’s wrong.
Reset Network Settings
- If the printer still won’t connect, try resetting its network settings to factory defaults and then reconnecting to your Wi-Fi.
Try a Wired Connection
- Connect your printer to your laptop using a USB cable to see if it works that way. This can help determine if the issue is with the wireless connection.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
