Hi @Davie7,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is asking for a WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) PIN and you can’t find your printer on your computer, it sounds like you may be trying to connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network or set it up wirelessly. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this issue:

1. Understanding WPS PIN

  • WPS PIN: This is a security code used to connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network securely. It is usually found on the printer’s control panel or a network configuration page.
  • WPS Button: Some printers use a WPS button for easy connection, but if you're being asked for a PIN, your printer might use a different method for WPS.

2. Finding the WPS PIN

On Your Printer:

  • Many printers display the WPS PIN on the screen or a settings menu. Look for a "Network" or "Wireless" section in the printer menu.
  • You can often print a network configuration or wireless test report from the printer. This report usually contains the WPS PIN.
  • To do this, go to the printer's control panel, find the network settings, and select "Print Network Configuration Page" or similar.
  • Printer Manual: Check your printer’s user manual for instructions on locating the WPS PIN. The manual will provide specific guidance for your printer model.

3. Using WPS for Wireless Setup

If your printer supports WPS, you might be able to connect it without needing to manually enter a PIN:

WPS Button Method:

  • Press the WPS Button on Your Router: Locate the WPS button on your router and press it. This enables the WPS mode on your router.
  • Press the WPS Button on Your Printer: Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your printer (if it has one). The printer and router should automatically connect.

WPS PIN Method:

  • Enter the WPS PIN: If your printer asks for a WPS PIN, enter the PIN displayed on the printer or the one provided in the network configuration page.

4. Connecting the Printer to Your Computer

Add Printer in Windows:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Click Add a printer or scanner. Windows will search for available printers. Select your printer from the list.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the printer drivers if prompted.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
