Hi @Fastolfe,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're having trouble logging into HP Smart and it's just cycling without opening, it can be quite frustrating. Here’s a detailed troubleshooting guide to help you resolve this issue:
1. Check Your Internet Connection:
- Ensure that your device is connected to the internet. A stable connection is necessary for HP Smart to function properly.
2. Restart HP Smart App:
- Close and Reopen: Fully close the HP Smart app and reopen it. On Windows, right-click the taskbar and select Task Manager, then end the HP Smart process if it’s running. On macOS, right-click the app in the dock and select Quit, then relaunch it.
- Restart Device: Restart your computer or mobile device to refresh the system and the app.
3. Update or Reinstall HP Smart:
- Check for Updates:
- Windows: Open the Microsoft Store, go to Downloads and updates, and select Get updates.
- macOS: Open the App Store, go to Updates, and install any available updates.
- Reinstall the App:
- Uninstall and Reinstall: Uninstall HP Smart and then download and reinstall it from the HP Smart website or the respective app store.
4. Clear App Cache (Mobile Devices):
- iOS: Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Find HP Smart and tap Offload App, then reinstall it from the App Store.
- Android: Go to Settings > Apps > HP Smart. Tap Storage and then Clear Cache.
5. Check for Software Updates:
- Operating System Updates:
- Windows: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
- macOS: Go to System Preferences > Software Update.
- Ensure that your OS is up-to-date as software updates can resolve compatibility issues.
6. Log In from a Different Device:
- Try logging into HP Smart from another device (e.g., another computer or a smartphone) to determine if the issue is device-specific.
7. Check HP Account and Service Status:
- HP Account: Ensure that your HP account credentials are correct. You can try logging in to the HP website directly at HP Account.
- Service Status: Sometimes, HP services might be down for maintenance. Check the HP Support website or HP’s Twitter for any service status updates.
8. Firewall and Security Software:
- Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software isn’t blocking HP Smart. Temporarily disable them to check if they are causing the issue, and if so, create exceptions for HP Smart.
9. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows):
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and resolve issues with printing and scanning.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
