I recently upgraded to a new Windows 11 laptop, but ever since I've set everything up, I cannot print double sided anymore from PDF. I have a HP Smart Tank 610 printer, and used to be able to print double sided from my previous laptop.
Please help as I need this function to print for my students. How do I get this functionality back?
Thank you

Hi @Anne_Bester,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're having trouble printing double-sided from your HP Smart Tank 610 printer after upgrading to Windows 11, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Step 1: Check Printer Settings
- Open PDF Document: Open the PDF you want to print.
- Print Dialog: Go to File > Print (or press Ctrl + P).
- Printer Properties: Select your HP Smart Tank 610 printer and click on Printer Properties or Preferences.
- Double-Sided Printing: Look for an option related to double-sided printing (it might be labeled as "Print on both sides," "Duplex," or "Two-sided"). Make sure it’s enabled.
Step 2: Update Printer Drivers
- Check for Updates: Go to the HP website and ensure you have the latest drivers for your printer that are compatible with Windows 11.
- You can visit the HP Driver Support page and search for your printer model.
- Reinstall Drivers: If you already have the latest drivers, consider uninstalling them and then reinstalling to ensure everything is configured correctly.
Step 3: Use HP Smart App
- Open HP Smart App: If you have the HP Smart app installed, try printing from there instead.
- Check Printing Preferences: In the HP Smart app, go to your printer settings and check if the double-sided printing option is available.
Step 4: Check Windows Printer Settings
- Open Settings: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select Printer: Click on your HP Smart Tank 610 and select Manage.
- Printer Preferences: Check the printer preferences and ensure that double-sided printing is enabled there as well.
Step 5: Test with Different Applications
- Try Another PDF Reader: If you’re using a specific PDF reader (like Adobe Acrobat), try printing from a different application (like Microsoft Edge or another PDF reader) to see if the issue persists.
Step 6: Check for Windows Updates
- Update Windows: Make sure your Windows 11 installation is fully updated by going to Settings > Windows Update and checking for updates.
Step 7: Restart the Printer
- Power Cycle: Turn off your printer, unplug it, wait a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes a simple restart can fix printing issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
