Hello,

In accordance with the guidelines at https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_12490059-12490108-16 I have removed all HP PSDR except the card on drive C ‘‘HPPrintScanDoctor’’ which will not remove with the contents:: HPPrintScanDoctorService, msvcp140.dll, vcruntime140.dll and vcruntime140_1.dll. Could these pose a risk?

Thanks in advance for the answer,

Suus1

Hi,

Thanks for the quick and clear answer.

I assume I'm logged in as an administrator (automatically?), since I'm the only user on the PC, which I didn't configure myself.

I did what you suggested and searched in the Task Manager > Processes folder, but there is nothing that refers to HPPrintScanDoctor (or anything like that). Not even "HP" is listed.

When I asked my question, I had tried deleting all the items in the HPPrintScanDoctor folder, but four failed.

I just tried deleting the folder itself, and that worked. Problem solved.

Thanks again for your help.

Welcome to the HP Community --

Try / Consider

Reminder:

Kill and Delete actions require that you be signed in with an administrator type account.

If the folder / entries are stuck, check whether the Task Manager list of "Processes" includes an entry starting with HPPrintScanDoctor (or similar).

If yes, kill / stop / exit that process

Go Back to your folder, for example, C:\Program Files\HPPrintScanDoctor

Try to delete the remaining files - starring with the PrintScanDoctor file -

Clear / retry / delete the the msvcp* files, one at at a time.

After the folder is empty, go up one level and delete the folder HPPrintScanDoctor

You are welcome.

Solved is good.

One possible reason a first folder or file delete attempt does not work might be traced to a running process or a locked library file  --

After a reboot, sign-in / out, or other changes in the Windows File System that at some point releases the files,

Files in a folder -- and the folder itself -- can usually be deleted.

One way to free locked processes or libraries includes your finding and killing a currently running process in the Task Manager Processes list,

The File System might itself start or stop processes after different types interactions -- some of which you (the operator) might initiate, others that the system might control, change, start, stop (Services).

So - All good.

Moving on.
