HP OfficeJet Pro 8022e All-in-One Printer

Hi,
I try to deactivate the automatic updates, but it comes back all the time, as if I had not changed the parameter.
I select "no update" or "alert me when there is an update", but each time I look back at the parameter, it is back to "update automatically"
Can someone help me?
It seems as if HP was removing my instruction to the printer...

many thanks for your help

@lecactus,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

HP has made firmware updates mandatory on some printers, especially those connected to HP+ or Instant Ink. However, you can try these steps to disable automatic updates on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8022e:

Disable Updates via Printer's Web Interface

Find the IP Address of your printer:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Network Setup > View Network Settings.
  • Note the IP address (e.g., 192.168.x.xxx).

Open a web browser on your computer and enter the IP address in the address bar.

In the Embedded Web Server (EWS), go to:

  • Settings > Printer Update
  • Select "Do not check for updates" or "Alert me before updating"

Click Apply/Save and restart the printer.

Disable Updates via HP Smart App

If the settings keep reverting, HP Smart may be forcing updates.

  1. Open the HP Smart App on your PC or phone.
  2. Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings (or Printer Update).
  3. Look for the Firmware Update section and turn it off or set it to manual.

Block HP Update Servers via Router (Advanced Users)

If updates keep reactivating, HP might be pushing them via the internet. You can block HP update domains on your router's firewall:

  1. Log into your router's settings.
  2. Find Parental Controls or Firewall Settings.
  3. Block these URLs:

This will prevent your printer from contacting HP update servers.

Roll Back or Downgrade Firmware

If HP has already updated your printer and you're facing issues, you might be able to install an older firmware version:

  1. Visit HP's support page and find older firmware.
  2. Download it and install it via USB using HP’s firmware utility.
  3. Disable automatic updates immediately after downgrading.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
