My operating system is actually macOS 15, but that was not an option.
When I try to sign in, either using "Printer User" or "Device Administrator", and I enter the PIN, I always get "Invalid Sign-In - The sign-in attempt was unsuccessful." I've tried changing the password, but that doesn't work. Interestingly, I can access the EWS via Safari, but not Chrome on my computer. Not sure where to go next. Suggestions?
I'm trying to set up Scan to Email. Thanks.

Hi @BigSteevie,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If you are experiencing difficulties signing into your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301sdw and receiving "Invalid Sign-In" errors, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Use Safari or Firefox for EWS Access
Since Safari works, continue using it to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):
- Enter the printer’s IP address in Safari (e.g., http://192.168.x.x)
- Sign in as Administrator (not "Printer User")
- If you don’t know the password, try the default (often blank) or reset it via the control panel
2. Reset the Administrator Password (if needed)
If you can't sign in:
- On the printer control panel, go to:
- Settings > General > Reset Factory Settings > Reset Admin Password
- Then try logging in again via EWS
Setting Up Scan to Email
Once signed in to EWS:
- Go to the Scan tab
- Select Scan to Email Setup Wizard
- Enter your SMTP server settings (e.g., Gmail, Outlook, etc.)
- Make sure:
- Authentication is enabled
- The From address is not set to "User Address (sign-in required)" — this causes errors
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
