Hi @tabbiemiller,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Smart App on Chromebook!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Currently, the HP Smart app is not available for Chrome OS directly from the Chrome Web Store or as a native application on Chromebooks. However, you can try the following steps to manage your printer:
Use HP Print for Chrome: Chromebook users can print using the HP Print for Chrome app. Install it from the Chrome Web Store, and it allows printing directly from the browser.
Google Cloud Print: If your printer supports Google Cloud Print, configure it to print directly through this service. Note that Google Cloud Print was deprecated as of December 2020, but if your printer still supports it, you can use it.
HP Printer embedded web server (EWS): Access the printer settings using HP's embedded web server. You can do this by entering the printer's IP address into your Chromebook's web browser. This method allows you to control various printer settings and may enable you to resolve issues without the HP Smart app.
Printer Control Panel: For some printer models, tasks like alignment can be performed directly using the control panel on the printer. Refer to your printer documentation for instructions on how to align cartridges or bypass the alignment page if stuck.
Alternative Devices: Use another device such as a Windows or Mac computer, or an Android/iOS device, to install the HP Smart app and manage your printer settings from there.
If you continue having issues with your printer's alignment page, check the printer manual for steps on handling alignment issues without the app, and ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can update the firmware through another compatible device or via the embedded web server.
I hope this helps.
