HP DeskJet 2855e All-in-One Printer

I could set up the Desk Jet printer to work with my laptop. For my wife's it reads off-line. I can go back to mine and print but it still reads offline for her. We are on the same network

Hi @tubinfool,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 2855e printer is showing as offline on your laptop, even though it’s connected to the same network, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.

Check Printer Connections

  1. Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  2. Network Connection: Ensure the printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network. You can print a network configuration page from the printer's control panel to verify its status.

On Your Laptop

Set Printer as Default:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Find your DeskJet printer in the list, click on it, and select Manage.
  • Click Set as default.

Check Printer Status:

  • In the Printers & Scanners menu, select your printer and check if it shows “Offline.”
  • If it does, try to right-click on the printer and select See what's printing.
  • In the print queue window, click Printer in the menu bar and ensure Use Printer Offline is unchecked.

Remove and Re-add the Printer:

  • In the Printers & Scanners menu, select your DeskJet printer and click Remove Device.
  • Restart your laptop, then go back to Printers & Scanners and click Add a printer or scanner to re-add the printer.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Go to the HP support website and download the latest drivers for the DeskJet 2855e.
  • Install the drivers and restart your laptop.

Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can block communication between your laptop and the printer. Temporarily disable these to check if they are causing the issue.

If the Issue Persists

  • Try Printing from Another Device: If possible, see if the printer works from another device (like a phone or tablet) to confirm it’s not an issue with the printer itself.
  • Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date, as updates can fix compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
