I had a firmware update to my Office Jet 8020. Installation process locked up.

Firmware update would not allow my printer to be selected. My computer will not connect to printer. Printer error messages are occurring.

1. only download to the download folder Printer Firmware Version 004.2512C 
2. please read first: Download printer firmware from the HP website (Windows) 
   4.  ... use USB ...

My computer now cannot find the printer. Therefore, I cannot download the firmware.

HP Support Assistant cannot find the printer.

Microsoft Setup cannot find the printer.

I reset the WIFI connections. still not connecting.

I tried entering IP address, still not connecting.

right-click on the EXE > save as ... > select directory (folder) > click on "save"

I tried HP Print and Scan Doctor to resolve my printer issue.

The Doctor found files missing from the printer. The Doctor was able to correct this issue, and my computer and printer are talking.

This is the second time that HP printer firmware update has cause me printer issues. I suggest that HP address their firmware updating process to correct the issues it has. I can no longer trust HP to supply firmware updates.

I have an update.

I can print from the HP Smart App. I cannot print from any other apps. Other apps say that my printer is not installed.

When searching for printers, my printer cannot be found.

I do not know what to do.
