Microsoft Windows 11

I  have a HP 9125e.  It wants me to manually change the paper size when I print envelopes for MS Word.  Prior HP printed did not do this.

I read somewhere that turning off “tray size prompt” would cure it.  But, I cannot find “tray size prompt” on the HP 9125e anywhere.

I upgraded the firmware fix that just came out and that did not help.

I run Windows 11.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

True - printer models are different as is the software used with the printer.

If not done,

Check that the printer is aware of your paper choices.

Example - (Alternate EWS format - select new OfficeJet Pro printers and at least a few LaserJet printers)

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Paper > Trays > click on Tray to configure

Next  (in addition and as available)

Section Print > Default Print Options > Select default tray

Example - Word - Mailings > Envelopes

Sample - Printer Properties > Advanced > Driver setting

Make sure that Driver is not set to Microsoft / IPP driver.

Dargon-Fur,

Thanks for the info, but it seems to assume that my printer is wireless.  I have mine connected by UBS so there is no IP address to enter.  What protocol do use to run the test you listed?

You are welcome.

Having to depend on USB is less common on a printer of this type -- it's true I assume a printer is on the network or at least using Wi-Fi Direct unless it's remarked otherwise in the question.

I don't have an answer for "tray size" prompt --

What?

I was making another assumption that you are asking about the Paper Size & Type prompt that displays on the printer after the paper is changed or the drawer (for that paper) is opened and then closed.

Should you have the option, perhaps consider using Wi-Fi Direct.

"With Wi-Fi Direct, you can directly connect your computer or mobile device to the printer and print wirelessly
without connecting to an existing wireless network."
