My printer won't print. It will scan so I know it is connected to internet. I have tried shutting everything down and restarting as well as uninstalling the printer and reinstalling. Nothing works. I also cleared all stored print jobs. That did not work. What is the next step.

Hi @Katherine491,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check Printer Status and Settings:
- Ensure that the printer is set as the default printer on your computer.
- Verify there are no error lights or messages displayed on the printer itself that might indicate further underlying issues.
- Ensure that the printer is not set to "Offline" mode. You can check this in your printer's settings on your computer.
Verify Network Connection:
- Since scanning works, it indicates some level of connectivity. However, double-check the network configuration settings to ensure that the printer is properly connected to the correct network.
- You can check this via the printer menu or the HP Smart App.
Driver Update:
- Make sure the printer driver on your computer is up to date. Device Manager on Windows or Printer Preferences on Mac usually allow you to check for driver updates.
Check Print Queue:
- Even if you've cleared the print jobs, ensure there are no tasks stuck in the print queue.
- Sometimes background processes can prevent new print jobs from starting.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor software, which is designed to diagnose and resolve printing and scanning issues.
Reset the Printer:
- A factory reset of the printer can often resolve issues that other methods cannot. Note that this will reset any custom settings you have.
- Consult the printer manual or HP website for specific reset instructions.
Firewall/Security Software:
- Occasionally, security software or firewall settings can hinder communication between your computer and printer. Temporarily disable these to see if printing resumes.
Try a Different Connection Method:
- If your printer supports USB or Ethernet connections, attempt connecting the printer directly using one of these methods to rule out WiFi problems.
I hope this helps.
