Hi @thelittlemeadow,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy 6000 printer is not printing color from documents but is able to print color test pages, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Check Document Settings: Ensure that the document you are trying to print is set to print in color. Sometimes, documents may default to grayscale or black and white. Check the print settings in the application you are using to create or view the document and make sure color printing is selected.

Printer Preferences: Verify the printer preferences to ensure that color printing is enabled. Follow these general steps:

  • Open the Control Panel on your computer.
  • Navigate to Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP Envy 6000 printer and select "Printing preferences."
  • Look for an option related to color printing and make sure it is set to color.

Driver Update: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause printing issues. Visit the official HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your HP Envy 6000 printer.

Print Queue: Check the print queue to make sure there are no stuck print jobs. Sometimes, a stuck print job can cause printing problems. Clear the print queue and try printing again.

Test Another Document: Print another color document or image to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to one document or if it's a more general printing issue.

Check Color Cartridges: Ensure that the color ink cartridges in your printer have sufficient ink. If the cartridges are low or empty, replace them with new ones. Additionally, make sure that the color cartridges are properly installed.

Print Quality Diagnostics: Many printers, including HP models, have built-in diagnostic tools. You can usually find these in the printer software on your computer. Run a print quality diagnostic or cleaning cycle to ensure the printheads are functioning properly.

Printer Firmware Update: Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP Envy 6000 printer. Firmware updates can address performance issues and improve compatibility.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
