HP DeskJet 3630 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I just got this printer, I hooked it up to my laptop, and I get an E flashing and two red dots flashing. Also when I try to hook it up either with a USB cable or wirelessly it asks for a PIN which is not anywhere on the printer, I have a feeling it was removed by the previous owners. How do I fix it.

HI @meatloafsmom,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

For your HP DeskJet 3630 showing the E error with two flashing red lights, here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Identify the Error Code

  • The flashing E and red lights often indicate a specific error. Refer to the printer's manual or HP’s support site for the meaning of the specific light patterns.

2. Reset the Printer

  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve temporary issues.

3. Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions in the paper path.

4. Check Ink Cartridges

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are installed correctly and are not empty. Sometimes, improperly seated cartridges can cause errors.

5. Connect Without a PIN

  • If you’re trying to connect wirelessly and it asks for a PIN, try the following:
    • WPS Method: If your router supports WPS, press the WPS button on your router, then immediately press the wireless button on the printer to establish a connection without needing a PIN.
    • HP Smart App: Download the HP Smart app on your laptop or mobile device. It may help with setup and bypass the PIN requirement.

6. USB Connection

  • If using a USB cable, ensure the cable is connected securely to both the printer and the laptop. Try different USB ports if necessary.

7. Printer Software and Drivers

  • Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for the HP DeskJet 3630. You can download them from the HP support website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
