HP ENVY 6055 All-In-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

During the setup of my HP ENVY 6055, when it is getting the driver, it says that the driver is unavaialble.  I cannot print from my Dell Laptop.  The Dell is a year old and the printer is out of warranty.

Hi @PFB11,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When facing an issue with your HP ENVY 6055 printer driver being unavailable on your Dell laptop, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially solve the problem. Here are some steps to follow:

Restart Devices: Begin by restarting both your Dell laptop and HP ENVY 6055 printer. This can resolve temporary connectivity or software glitches.

Check Connections: Ensure the printer is correctly connected to your laptop, either via USB or over your network. If it's a network printer, verify that both devices are on the same network.

Update Printer Driver Manually:

  • Visit the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page.
  • Search for your printer model, which is HP ENVY 6055.
  • Choose the operating system running on your Dell laptop.
  • Download the latest driver package available.
  • Install the downloaded package following the on-screen instructions.

Windows Update:

  • Sometimes, updating Windows can help as it also updates drivers. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.

Use HP Smart App:

  • HP recommends using the HP Smart app for the best experience with their printers. Download and install HP Smart from the Microsoft Store, and follow the app's setup process for your printer.

Check Windows Printer Troubleshooter:

  • Windows includes a printer troubleshooting tool that can diagnose and fix common printing problems. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Printer, and run the troubleshooter.

Remove and Re-add Printer:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners. Remove your printer from the list and then add it again. This can sometimes resolve driver issues.

Compatibility Mode:

  • If the driver installer doesn't work properly, you might try running it in compatibility mode for an earlier version of Windows. Right-click on the installer, choose Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and select a previous version of Windows.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
