Follow these troubleshooting steps:

1. Check USB Connection

  • Try a different USB port on your computer.
  • Use a different USB cable (preferably a high-quality one).
  • Plug the printer directly into the computer (avoid USB hubs).

2. Remove and Reinstall the Printer

On Windows:

Uninstall the Printer:

  • Press Win + R, type control printers, and hit Enter.
  • Right-click on HP ENVY Photo 7858 and select Remove Device.
  • Restart your computer.

Reinstall the Printer:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click Add a Printer and let Windows search for the device.
  • If Windows doesn’t find it, click "The printer that I want isn’t listed" and manually install it.

3. Install Latest HP Drivers

  • Download the full HP Driver Package from HP’s official site:
  • Run the installer and choose USB mode when prompted.
  • If the setup doesn’t detect the printer, try a different USB port.

4. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download HP Print and Scan Doctor:
  • Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to detect and fix issues.

5. Enable USB Printing Support in Device Manager

  1. Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
  3. Look for USB Printing Support:
    • If it's missing, unplug and replug your printer.
    • If you see a yellow triangle, right-click and select Update Driver.
    • If still not working, right-click and choose Uninstall Device, then restart your PC.

6. Check Printer Spooler Service

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  2. Find Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.
  3. If it's stopped, set Startup Type to Automatic.

7. Try Another Computer

  • Plug your printer into a different computer to check if the issue is with the printer or your PC.

8. Reset the Printer

  • Unplug the power cord while the printer is ON.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in.
  • Try reconnecting.

Let me know how it goes.
