HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

I have installed my HP Officejet 7740. I can print documents from word etc, okay. However HP Smart cant find a printer either by the automatic route or if I input an IP address. I have uninstalled HP Smart app and reinstalled, but it still does not work. i have also updated to the latest drivers

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Officejet 7740 printer and the HP Smart app. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.

 

  • Check network connection: Ensure that your printer and the device running the HP Smart app are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If you're using a wired connection, ensure that the Ethernet cable is securely connected.
  • Restart devices: Power off your printer, smartphone, or computer, and then turn them back on. Sometimes a simple restart can help establish a connection.
  • Update firmware: Visit the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your Officejet 7740 printer. Updating the printer's firmware can often resolve connectivity issues.
  • Disable VPN or firewall: If you're using a VPN or have a firewall enabled, try disabling them temporarily to see if they are blocking the communication between your devices.
  • Reset network settings on the printer: On your Officejet 7740 printer, navigate to the network settings or wireless menu and perform a network reset. This will clear any existing network configurations and allow you to set it up again.
  • Reinstall the HP Smart app: Completely uninstall the HP Smart app from your device, restart your device, and then reinstall the app from the official app store.
  • Check IP address settings: Double-check that the IP address you are entering in the HP Smart app is correct. You can usually find the printer's IP address by printing a network configuration page from the printer itself.
