Hi @TomR01,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're facing issues with your HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer after switching to a new MacBook Pro with the Apple M3 Chip and MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the color and double-sided printing issues:
Check Printer Settings:
- Open the "Printers & Scanners" settings on your MacBook Pro. Please make sure the MAC OS is up to date
- Select your HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer.
- Make sure that the default settings for color and double-sided printing are configured correctly.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Visit the official HP website and check for the latest printer drivers that are compatible with MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1.
- Download and install the updated drivers on your MacBook Pro.
Printer Software:
- Ensure that you have the latest HP printer software installed on your MacBook Pro.
- Sometimes, the manufacturer's software provides additional features and better compatibility.
Restart Printer:
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Restart your MacBook Pro.
Printer Firmware Update:
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer. Visit the HP support website for firmware updates. Click here
Check Ink Levels:
- Make sure that your color ink cartridges have sufficient ink. Low ink levels can affect color printing.
Paper Type and Size:
- Verify that the paper type and size settings in both the printer and your MacBook Pro match. Incorrect settings may lead to printing issues.
Test Print:
- Print a test page to see if the issue persists. This can help you identify whether the problem is with a specific document or a general printing issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
