Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, My HP Envy 5020 is asking me to use setup cartridges that I do not have. I hope that it is possible to bypass this stage?

Hi @higgs_bosun,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you don't have setup cartridges for your HP Envy 5020, you can still set up your printer by using regular cartridges. Here are the steps you can follow.

  • Turn on your printer and wait for it to become idle.
  • Open the cartridge access door. The carriage will move to the center of the printer.
  • Wait for the carriage to become idle and silent.
  • Remove the protective tape from the new cartridge.
  • Hold the cartridge by its sides with the nozzles facing towards the printer and insert the cartridge into the slot.
  • Push the cartridge forward until it clicks into place.
  • Repeat steps 4 to 6 for the other cartridges.
  • Close the cartridge access door.
  • Wait for the printer to print an alignment page.
  • Follow the instructions on the alignment page to complete the setup.

Note: If you have previously used the printer and have installed cartridges before, you can skip the alignment step.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
