@kljack33, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Print Cartridge Errors for HP OfficeJet Pro 8020!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you have replaced print cartridges but continue to get error messages indicating that one or more cartridges are damaged or missing, follow the steps below to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Steps to Resolve Cartridge Error:

Check Cartridges and Reinstall:

  • Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed.
  • Remove the cartridges and check for any protective tapes or packaging materials that might be left on the contacts.
  • Reinsert the cartridges firmly into their correct slots.

Clean Cartridge and Printer Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Open the printer cover to access the cartridges.
  • Using a lint-free cloth, gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges (the copper-colored circuits).
  • Also, clean the electrical contacts inside the printer where the cartridges sit.
  • Make sure the contacts are dry before reinstalling the cartridges.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  • Unplug the printer from the power source and wait for about 10 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Check if the error message persists.

Replace the Cartridges Again:

  • If cleaning the contacts did not resolve the issue, you may need to replace the cartridges again. Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges.
  • Install the new cartridges carefully following the instructions provided with the cartridges.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
