HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 All-in-One Printer

I'm setting up a new Windows 11 PC with My 8730 printer, it prints in Grayscale only in all applications. Print report shows nothing wrong.

I've striped out the software and replaced the driver multiple times.

What do I do next?

Hi @-Lou-

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for sticking with it—sounds like you've already done a lot of the heavy lifting, and I know how annoying it is when color printing just refuses to cooperate. Let’s try a few more targeted steps to get your OfficeJet Pro 8730 printing in full color again.

Check Print Settings: Ensure that the print settings are configured correctly within the application you are printing from. Look for a settings option labeled "Color" or "Print in Color" instead of "Grayscale" or "Black and White".

Inspect Printer Preferences in Windows:

  • Go to the "Printers & Scanners" section of the Windows Settings.
  • Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 printer and choose "Manage".
  • Click on "Printer Properties".
  • Navigate to the "Advanced" tab and ensure that the "Printing Defaults" are set to color.

Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver:

Check the Ink Levels:

  • Use the printer's touchscreen to check the ink levels and ensure that color cartridges are not empty. Replace any that are low or empty.

Test a Different Application:

  • Try printing from a different software application to determine if the issue is application-specific.

Printer Reset:

  • Power off the printer using the Power button.
  • Unplug the printer from the electrical outlet for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and power it on.

You're clearly determined to get this sorted, and I’m right here to help you cross the finish line. Let me know how it goes!

Officejet pro 8730 can not print from the printer in color. Quality report is perfect. AIl the troubleshooters say everything is fine. Every driver download or download process does not function. I have tried on 4 Windows 11 machines, one with Windows 10. The old Windows 10 machine now will not print in color. After every attempted reinstallation process, I can scan and save directly from scanner. I can not print in color and it gives the same error message each time, "I don't have permission..."

Yes I have tried troubleshooting in three AI programs...

Thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry, all of what you mention has been tried multiple times.
